Problem reading data from Excel (bug?)
Hi
I've got a scene which reads data from an external spreadsheet and displays the results as a bar chart. I'm controlling which data is displayed by sending the spreadsheet row number using OSC from a remote application. On first starting the Ventuz presentation the data won't update. If I then open the spreadsheet in Excel everything starts to work. I can then close the spreadsheet and it's still fine. I'm using a direct reference to the workbook i.e. file:///C:/data/newdata.xls any suggestions?
TIA Eddie

Hi Daniel
I think I've narrowed it down. In my scene I have 2 Hierarchy Containers (see attached jpeg) I'm using OSC to switch the case between these and change the graphics etc. Within each container there are more OSC inputs to select the spreadsheet rows etc. I think the problem is due to the fact that the workbook nodes are all inside the hierarchy containers. I've created a dummy text node outside the containers (it's the last item in the jpeg) which contains a link to the workbook node and it now works without opening Excel.

Hi EddiH,

I tried to reconsturct your problem, but everything works fine for me!
Perhaps I didn't get the point, a sample scene would help.

Cheers!

Hi Daniel
I've created a simple scene and can't replicate the problem. I've got a work around for the time being.
If I get time I'll try and pull the original scene apart bit by bit to see where the problem might be. Thanks for your help, Cheers Eddie
